Maintenance Tips

Tip #1 – Air System

Make sure the compressed air that is being supplied to the carriage is properly filtered and regulated (90-110 psi).  Spring time temperature in many areas creates the potential for extreme condensation in the air lines therefore filter bowls and all air chambers such as compressor tanks and carriage poles should be drained regularly.

Tip #2 – Dogging System

The Dog Tips on Cleereman Carriages can be sharpened if necessary.  It is important that they are sharpened properly to maintain proper dogging. The dog should never be sharpened on the front face always grind on the back surface of the dog out to the front face until the dog is sharp.  If the dog tips cannot be sharpened or are damaged or bent they can be replaced with Cleereman replacement tips.

Tip #3 – Mac Valves

When servicing or replacing Mac Valves with a new or remanufactured Mac Valve, make sure to use the proper gasket.  The replacement gaskets are sent with the new valve; a cardboard flat gasket and an 0-ring style rubber gasket.  These are provided for two different style manifolds.  Choose the proper gasket and discard the other gasket.
